CLEVELAND - Nancy was born in Cleveland, OH, on September 8, 1943. She did everything with excellence and compassion, graduating from Parma High School in 1961 and earning dual degrees in 1965 from The Ohio State University: A Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Education degree, with a focus in German studies. She taught German for two years at Worthington High School before serving as a military wife overseas and raising her four boys.
Eventually Nancy returned to teaching and gave over 20 years of service to the Galion Public Schools, impacting countless numbers of students in Special Education.
She was a devoted wife to Dr. Richard Byrom, Jr., for nearly 60 years, a loving mother to four sons, a true 'mother-in-love' to her sons' wives, and a proud grandmother of 12. She faithfully supported her family through military service, missions work, and ministry. An active member of Galion Alliance Church, she served as a missions committee chair, Vacation Bible School leader, Cub Scout den mother, and as a mentor to many women.
Nancy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, tireless prayers, thoughtful cards, and kind spirit. She prayed unceasingly for others, waking up at the early hours of the morning to read the Bible and pray for her friends, family, and anything else the Lord placed on her heart.
She is survived by her husband Richard, her four sons and their families, her sisters Linda McHugh and Barb McGrew, her sister-in-law Beth Haas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Kurt and Catherine Haas, her brother Robert (Bob) Haas, and her in-laws Richard Sr. and Marjorie Byrom.
A Celebration of Life service for Nancy will be held at Grace Fellowship Church, 365 Straub Road East, Mansfield, OH 44903, on Tuesday, June 17, at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive guests before the service, beginning at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to The Alliance Great Commission Fund (undesignated) at https://secure.cmalliance.org/give. Nancy loved supporting Alliance Missions and would be blessed by a gift to this ministry.
