Doris Makufka Obituary

Doris M. DeChurch Makufka, age 88 of DuBois, PA, formerly of Brockway, PA died Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Christ the King Manor.

Born on January 20, 1937 in Reynoldsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Nellie (Yeany) Stahlman.

Doris was married to William J. DeChurch, Sr. He preceded her in death. She then married Steve Makufka. He preceded her in death as well.

Doris was an administrative assistant for the Brockway Area School District for many years.

She loved to crochet and sew, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Doris also wanted to be remembered for her undying love of the Buffalo Bills… Go Bills!

She is survived by two daughter (Denise Gugino and her husband Joe of North Tonawanda, NY and Doreen DeSantis and her husband John "Jiggs" of DuBois, PA), eight grandchildren (Laura and her husband Dan, Kristin, Joey and his wife Stefanie, Billie Jo, Dante and his wife Christina, Domenica, Marco, and Franco), five great grandchildren (Matthew, Zachary, Gianni, Hadley, and Eloise), a sister (Joyce Marsh), and a sister in law (Barbara Bontempo).

She was preceded in death by her son, William J. "Billy D" DeChurch, Jr. and a granddaughter, Donna Gugino.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church with Fr. John Detisch and Msgr. Charles Kaza Con Celebrants.

Burial will follow in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, Sykesville, PA.
