David Cloninger Obituary
He was born in York County, S.C., on March 29, 1961, to the late Bud and Trula Bowers Cloninger. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger, and a sister, Vickey Stamey.
David was owner of the Lighthouse Fish Camp in Lincolnton and had also been a truck driver most of his life while owning many different restaurants in Gaston County.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Abby Lee Cloninger and fiancé Preston Looper, Katelyn Gene Cloninger; brothers, Charles Cloninger and Jewel Still, Clifford Cloninger and wife Robin, Aron Cloninger and wife Susan, Daniel Cloninger and Laura Watson; sister, Kay Ferguson and husband Richard; special friend, Wanda Potter and mother of the girls, Paula Johnson Cloninger; half brother and sister, Yates and wife Sue Cloninger, Emily and Charles Ware; several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Gaston Baptist Church, 516 S. Gaston St., Dallas, with the Rev. Richard Gaddis, the Rev. John Johnson and the Rev. Mark Hovis officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.

So saddened to hear that such a young man went home early. We never got the chance to meet him in person. The story's we heard was a wonderful testimony of how he loved his family and children! May our deepest sympathy and the blessing of our Lord Jesus be with you all.

I was saddened to hear the news of David's passing. I saw him at the fish camp about a year and a half ago after not having seen him since graduation at North Gaston in 1979. I will miss him. Good bless your family and David's memory.
