Donna Michaels Obituary
She was a native of Gaston County, born March 11, 1950, to the late Charles Douglas Skipper and Hazel Purser Arthurs.
She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and had been in banking for over 30 years, working at Carolina Trust and BB & T before retiring.
Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and friend to all. She deeply loved her dogs, Cricket, Sassy, Jackson, Mitzy and Bailey. Donna always opened her home to all the youth, her home was the neighborhood central to all, young and old. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years Woodrow Joseph "Joe" Michaels, who died in 2011, and a sister, Karen S. Carpenter.
She is survived by a son, Brian Michaels of Charlotte, and a daughter, Jackie M Flemings and her husband John of Gastonia, and their daughter Hannah Fleming; a brother Doug Skipper of Gastonia; nephew, Jason Carpenter and wife Kim and their six children; brother and sisters, Susie and Ray McMillian, Pat and Glenn Leigh, Dick and Janet Michaels, Dan and Lisa Michaels. Several precious nieces and nephews.
The celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Covenant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m.
Interment will be private at Westview Gardens at a later date.

Donna was always so quick with a smile or a joke, you couldn't be sad around her. She was my friend for nearly fifty years and I loved just chatting with her. I' ll miss her,as will you all, but she has truly earned this break--RIP, Dear Friend, Patsy Ballenger Day

I am so deeply sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I have known Donna since I was in 7th grade. She was such a special person. Her smile could only match her wonderful personality. She loved life and she loved people. Everyone loved Donna because she cared for so much for other people and loved her family so much. I was blessed to know her. I didn't get to see her often but when I did as always she had a hug and a big smile for me. My whole family extends love and sympathy to Donna's family at this sad time. Love you Donna. You won't be forgotten.
