Erskine Boyd Obituary

GASTONIA - Erskine H. Boyd, 78, passed away June 21, 2010, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Gaston County on Sept. 28, 1931, son of the late Lucius Howard Boyd and the late Janie Lorina Foy Boyd.

He was a member of Crowders Creek ARP Church in Gastonia where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher for many years and was a U. S. Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War.

Mr. Boyd grew up as a farmer, worked at Firestone Textile Mills and at the age of seventy, retired from Precision Machine Shop. He had been a resi-dent of Peak Resources of Gastonia since 2007.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda Boyd who passed away in 2003 after forty-six years of marriage; brothers, Howard, Pressley, Fred, George, Neal, Dean, Harold and Elmer Boyd.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Sarah Boyd of Gastonia, Christine Lee and husband, Craig of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Leo Boyd of Kingsport, Tenn.; sisters, Jean Love of Gastonia, Kathleen Smith of Rock Hill and one grandchild, Connor Lee.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Crowders Creek ARP Church in Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Rick Lewis and James McLurkin.

Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8:30 on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel in Gastonia and other times at the home of Robert and Jean Love.

Interment will be in Crowders Creek ARP Church Cemetery in Gastonia.
