Giles Arndt Obituary
Mr. Arndt was a native of Catawba County, son of the late Lattimore Giles and Jurie Mull Arndt.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia P. Arndt and daughter, Alice L. Arndt.
He was a retired Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer with BB&T Bank. He was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1948 where he served on many committees including the Financial Committee. He was a member of the Builders Sunday School Class, The Methodist Men and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He was the President of the Eagles and Lions Club and the Exalted Ruler in the Elk's Club. He served his country in the US Army during World War II.
Survivors include son, Giles Jerry Arndt, Jr. and wife Laura of Garner, daughter, Teresa Arndt Carter of Gastonia, brother, Charles Leonard Arndt and wife Janie of Newton, sisters, Mary L. Murray of Nashville, TN, Hilda V. Pyatt of Salisbury, Ara L. McRee of Florence, SC and grandchildren, Maria Clark, Emma and Hannah Arndt.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. C.B. Barr and Dr. Jim Westmoreland.
Interment will follow in Evergreen "A Quiet Place", Belmont.
The family will receive friends 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church parlor.

We were so very sorry to learn of the death of your dad...He was a wonderful next door neighbor and we will miss his sweet smile and waive, everytime he drove passed the house. Please know that your family is in our prayers and if we can do anything to help you, please let us know.
