I am going to miss Jim and his quick and wry wit. His smile was one of a kind... right to the end! His was a welcoming and warm home and I so enjoyed seeing his love for Jane and his family. I did not particularly enjoy his love of the Tar Heels but his wit made it fun to banter with him about them!! My heart breaks for the family, but memories of Jim's life are plentiful... the pictures tell his story. ❤

That smile tells you about all you need to know about Jim! Full of life and love for his friends and family. A fine church man ready to do anything to help anyone with a need. Our sympathy goes out to Jane, Caroline, Bob, and his extended family. Keep the faith all for Jim is surely in Heaven this day enjoying the Fellowship of the Saints with our Lord Jesus Christ.

I met Jim and Jane for the 1st time around 2012 at the boat dock in Lake Wylie, SC. I would see them on and off for the next 4 years as me and a close friend would either be departing to go out on the water or returning for the evening. Each encounter would entail a conversation about boating, their family, jobs, etc. it was always a highlight to see them. Through those short but welcomed conversations we became friends who visited often after Jim's retirement and his battle with Parkinson's Syndrome. During those visits, I observed the love and dedication Jim and Jane had for one another. Until the last several months, the visits were always filled with jokes, laughter, and appreciation for the small things of life. I will always remember Jim's smile, his love for Tar Heel & as well as his honest opinion about my beloved Wolfpack, He loved to tease me. He handled his situation with dignity and fought the good fight till the end. It was a blessing to be in his home and to call him a friend. ❤ Susan Yow
