Lenore Lay Obituary

STANLEY - A beautiful Godly woman who was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother best describes Lenore Hammack Lay who went to be with her Lord and Savior on

Lenore was born in Ransom County, ND on Feb. 19, 1919, to the late Lane and Ellen (Forsberg) Hammack. For 85 years she was very active in her church, Christ's Lutheran and was the oldest living member. She enjoyed being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Woodman of the World. Her hobbies included sewing, traveling and playing bingo, but more than anything she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also adored her teacup Poodle, Nikki. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Charles Lay and his wife, Debbie of Gastonia, NC, Ronnie Lay and his wife, Phyllis of Stanley, NC and Karen Lay Hance and

her husband, Tony of Stanley, NC; six grandchildren, Charles Patrick Lay and wife, Rachelle, Brett Lay and wife, Crystal, Jeff Lay, Andrew Lay, Ryan Hance and Zack Hance; nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at Christ's Lutheran Church in Stanley. Reverend Wesley Frye will preside. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly, NC.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
