Virgil McGuire Obituary

Virgil P. McGuire, age 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family June 17, 2009. He was a 41 year resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado where he worked as a mail clerk for 18 years. Virgil Paul McGuire was born June 11, 1929 in Glasgow, Kentucky to William and Lorna (Kohrt) McGuire. He married his wife, Dixie Hauvah on December 21, 1952 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Virgil was in the United States Army for 20 years. He was a member of the Colorado Springs Chess Club. He was very athletic and enjoyed tennis, running, bowling, and staying fit. He also enjoyed the outdoors of Colorado by fishing and camping. Virgil loved the Broncos, Rockies, and Nuggets. Virgil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dixie; children: Steven Paul McGuire of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Patricia Lynne Lascuola of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Pauline Davenport of Longmont, Colorado; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A celebration of life is planned in Virgil's honor 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful� Chapel. Inurnment will be private at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1445 North Union Boulevard, Suite B100, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
