Joseph Cross Obituary
DELRAY BEACH, FL - Joseph Gilbert Cross sadly passed away June 23, 2025, in Delray Beach, Florida, after battling a long illness. He was 77 years old. Joe was born and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he attended Saint Michael's from kindergarten through senior year, graduating in 1966. He was a standout in both soccer and baseball and was known as a sharp shooter!
Joe was employed by the State of Massachusetts at the Registry of Deeds, and later at the Registry of Probate. He also worked as a real estate appraiser at Crowley and Associates and was a property assessor for the City of Northampton. Joe and his wife Cathy were co-owners of Cathy Cross, a women's clothing store in Northampton, for 37 years.
Joe was the son of the late Gilbert and Francis (Musante) Cross of Northampton. He is survived by Cathy, his wife of 45 years; his brother, Jeffrey Cross; his brother-in-law, Thomas Gomez; and sisters-in-law, Cynthia Padovani and Susan Mackenzie. His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews: Maggie, Michael, Matthew, Andrew and Elizabeth. Joe also leaves behind many cherished friends and their families, who enriched his life with countless loving memories and long-lasting relationships.
Joe was a nature lover and an avid sports fan, but his true passion was for the game of golf. A Celebration of Life will be held at Northampton Country Club on July 23, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

Cathy, I am so sorry for your loss. The two of you were a perfect couple together. I remember Joe as a very kind and encouraging person. Everyone felt comfortable around him. So often as an X-Pat returning to Northampton, somewhere between Pleasant St and the Court House, that engaging gravelly voice would welcome me back. That warmly engaging Joe, ever the greeter, always a friend, made all the intervening years disappear and we were back in highschool again, reminiscing about our St Mike´s antics.
