Marsha Moody Obituary

Dec. 28, 1942 - Nov. 27, 2016

Marsha Kay Moody, 73, of Sweet Home died on Nov. 27, 2016, after suffering from a stroke the week prior.

Marsha was born on Dec. 28, 1942 at Norfolk Naval Base in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Maurice and Geraldine Moody. Marsha grew up with her parents and younger brother, James, in Southern California. In 1965, Marsha joined the Air Force, becoming a member of the Women's Air Corps as a medic. She was stationed at Stewart Air Force base, where she met and married Robert Cohen, and discovered her great love of nursing. After her term of duty, she and her husband moved back to the west coast, where they raised their two daughters, Alecia and Laura, while Marsha pursued her dream of becoming a registered nurse.

Marsha graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State University, Chico, in 1977. She worked as a home health nurse, a floor nurse at Feather River and Enloe Hospitals, and co-owned an adult foster care facility. In 1989, the family moved from Chico, California, to Lebanon where Marsha worked as a nurse at Lebanon Community Hospital until she retired after 20 years. During this time, she and her husband divorced, and she met the true love of her life, Daniel Ries.

She is preceded in death by her parents and infant son.

She is survived by Daniel Ries; brother James Moody; daughter Alecia Warren, husband Kevin and their children, Tristan and Azlynn; and daughter Laura Hysell, husband Jake and their children, Audrey and Calista.

A celebration of life for all who knew her will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Southside Church of Christ.

The family asks that memorial donations be made in honor of Marsha to the Lebanon Community Hospital Healing Gardens.
