Beverly J. Austin

1928 - 2025

JANESVILLE, WI - Beverly Jean Austin (Tamblingson), age 97, passed away August 24, 2025, at Cedar Crest in Janesville. She was born on February 22, 1928, in Janesville, Wis. At the age of 19, she joined the Order of the Sisters of Mercy and remained Sister Mary Laura for the next twenty-nine years. Throughout her time in the convent, she taught at several schools and worked as a dietician at many hospitals in the area, primarily Mercy Hospitals and Beloit Memorial Hospitals. After leaving the convent, she was married on April 29, 1979, to William Austin.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Jack, Sally and Nancy, as well as her late husband, Bill. Beverly is survived by half-brother, Glenn Tamblingson; stepchildren, Margaret, Tom, Steve, Bruce, Betsy and Jim Austin; and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Our beloved Bev was a breath of fresh air, an unwavering light for everyone who knew her, and will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held in the chapel at CEDAR CREST, 1702 S. River Rd., Janesville, on September 12, 2025, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Immediately following, a service will begin at 1 p.m., officiated by Glenn Tamblingson. Her ashes will be interred with her late husband at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Beloit, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials made on her behalf will go to SSM Health, St. Marys.
