Lloyd Goding Obituary

Lloyd Allen Goding Las Vegas, NM - We celebrate the life and mourn the loss of our beloved Lloyd Goding. He passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the age of 82. Lloyd is survived by his wife Stephen Goding, daughter Amy (Goding) Hemer and Lyle Goding both in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and five grandchildren - Drew, Owen, and Eric Hemer, and Oliver and Leo Goding. He is survived by his brother Laurence Goding, and sisters Virginia (Goding) From, Lois (Goding) Rubino, Martha Goding, Rebecca (Goding) Woods, and Sallie Goding. He had a fulfilling career as an organic chemist and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County, where he was known for his innovative teaching, enthusiastic mentorship, and love for pyrotechnics. Lloyd remained captivated by new discoveries and scientific literature. He and Stephen traveled the world, visiting more than 50 countries, and lived in Turkiye, Ecuador, Azerbaijan, Bali Indonesia, and Lithuania. Lloyd was a passionate advocate for sustainability, and environmental and energy conservation. He commissioned his son-in-law, Jeff Hemer, to design a passive solar retirement home outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico. He volunteered for New Mexico Solar Energy Society, Sustainable Las Vegas, and Las Vegas Arts Council. Lloyd crafted intricate mosaics and later took up printmaking. His work is displayed alongside Stephen's textile art at a community gallery in Las Vegas, NM, and in the homes of those he loved. He was deeply devoted to his family, and was a sturdy, nurturing source of wisdom and inspiration. Lloyd lived with intention, humility, and authenticity. We will remember him for his strong spirit, kind heart, and the deep love he shared with those he held dear.
