Mary Ellen Spitz

1948 - 2025

Mary Ellen (Luck) Spitz Eagle River, WI - MaryEllen "Mary" Spitz, age 76, passed away at Seasons of Life Hospice House Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 3, 1948, in Elkhorn, WI, to parents Dave and Vicky Sturtevant. She attended Delavan-Darien High School, where she graduated as valedictorian, and went on to earn her master's degree from UW- Eau Claire, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Mary worked for 30 plus years as a Special Education Teacher. She worked with the Madison Metro School District for the longest period of time. She enjoyed fishing, boating, stamping, beading, playing cards or games, and reading. Her most treasured memories were the times she got to spend with her family doing all these activities.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law: Gary Stark. She is survived by her husband: Charles "Chuck" Spitz; sons: Ryan (Erienne) Spitz, Kyle Spitz, Pete; special friend: Zander; grandchildren: Natalie, Ethan, Tristan; brother: Tim (Darlene) Sturtevant; brother-in-law: Ron (Carolyn) Spitz, their son: Ken (Abra), their children: Caleb, Cody; sister-in-law: RuthAnn Stark; niece: Becky; nephew: Andy; niece: Ashly (Jeremy) Renz, their children, Harper and Henry; nephew: Eric (Toni) Sturtevant, children, Eric, Brooklyn, Payton, Savana and Landon; as well as many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials in Mary's honor can be directed to the charity of your choice, or one that was close to Mary's heart: Vilas County Humane Society or Wild Instincts Wildlife Rehab in Rhinelander, WI.
