William D. "Bill" Barkley

1935 - 2025

Janesville, WI - William "Bill" D. Barkley, age 90, of Janesville, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital, Janesville. He was born in Black River Falls on April 19, 1935, the son of George and Evelyn (Anderson) Barkley. Bill was a 1953 graduate of Black River Falls High School. He married Marcine C. Discher on June 16, 1956, in Black River Falls. He loved making wooden toys and furniture for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn, gardening and bird watching. He was a member of Teamsters Local 579.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marcine; 3 children: Sandra Barkley of Duluth, MN, David (Mical) Barkley of Janesville and Maryann (Robert) Higgins of Pauls Valley, OK; 6 grandchildren: Bryanna (Josh) Elzinga, Alyssa (Adam) Meier, Alex (Karina) Barkley, Christopher (Tylynn) Evers, Nichol (Nick) Chambers and Nathan (Shelby) Lemm; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Don (Sally) Barkley of Fairview Heights, IL; and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and great granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Meier.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at CARGILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Janesville. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
