KELLY JA CHOPP Kelly Ja Chopp, 60, died Tuesday November 5, 2024 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 17, 1964 also in Garden City, Kansas; the son of AJ and Phyllis (Kelly) Chopp. Kelly attended and graduated from the local school and then went on to FHSU to further his education receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Business. During that time he had the opportunity to live in South Carolina and attend the university there through a college exchange program. After graduation he spent a brief stint traveling for work due to a marketing job. Ultimately he settled back home in Garden City and found his career with the Garden City Railroad where he worked until his retirement. Kelly enjoyed traveling and often planned his trips around trains or sporting events; always driving no matter the distance. He was a collector of sorts, if there was a prize to be had for being the first one you could bet he would be there and get it. He also enjoyed photography and documenting the places he traveled to and the attractions he saw along the way. Due to the nature of his work and the hours Kelly kept to himself some, however he was always willing to help those in need however he could. He had a unique sense of humor and found much solace and belonging in his church family. Survivors include two sisters Korry Chopp and Kerry Tanfield, his niece Samantha (Pete) Kneifl and nephew Cameron Gwynn. Kelly is preceded in death by his parents AJ and Phyllis Chopp. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday November 10, 2024 at the Garden City Church of Christ. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Finney County Humane Society or the Church of Christ both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
