Allen Clark Obituary

Allen Sears Clark June 20, 1939 - September 3, 2009 Allen passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2009. Allen was born in Joplin, Missouri to Corinne and Roland Clark. He was the first of four children. During his childhood he enjoyed life on various farms and enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, farming and playing practical jokes on friends given the opportunity (which continued throughout his life!). He joined the Air Force at first chance where he learned all aspects of maintaining and repairing aircraft. Upon leaving the Air Force he pursued a brief career in sales at which time he met and married his wife, Char Lea Jones of Fruita, Colorado. They had two children. Allen, using his creativity and skill began working as a machinist. He learned his trade and refined his skills and became a Master Machinist, tool maker, draftsman and engineer in a career that spanned 35 years. Ending when he retired and sold his business of 20 years, Western Slope Machine and Tool Company in Grand Junction, Colorado. He enjoyed camping, fishing, scenic drives, his family and designing and building everything. His remaining years were spent doing things he was passionate about. Ultra lites, never-ending projects at home and helping other people with their projects. He often said "I don't know how I ever had time to go to work!" with a big laugh. Allen was preceded in death by both parents and wife, Char. He is survived by his son, Roland (Keli) Clark of Pahrump, NV; daughters, Andrea (Jeff) Brock of Mack, CO and Elizabeth (Chris) Sipps of Austin, TX; brother, Arthur Clark of Ray Town, MO; sisters, Clara (Jerry Williams), Exeter, MO; Dorothy (Roy) Mantonya, Stockton, MO; half brother, Joe (Mary) Clark, Sandsprings, OK; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends dear to him. He will be terribly missed forever and loved always. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Fruita Christian Church, 208 N. Maple in Fruita, CO. Arrangements entrusted to Snell-McLean Funeral Home.
