During this time Ella Moon touched the lives of thousands of children. She was also instrumental in the development of Adoption Day in the Grand Valley. Will never forget her kindness to us rebellious teens in our catechism group. And earlier, I still remember all those performance costumes hanging up in her basement, all handmade by her for our dance recitals. I remember her quiet chuckling, her acceptance and her love. There was no one like her, and I hope to see her again in Heaven.

Family Ella left all grown up with children of their own and I'm sure remember their Mom, Gram in some wonderful way. Ella was a one of a kind, and as promised she is still in my thoughts and prayers. She was so special there are not enough words to explain who Ella was. She's still in my heart and my thoughts - often rushing through my life with her smile on full wattage. Pushing Moon all the way. Don't suppose you're resting. Some heavenly project that needed you. Just MJ

Seems every time I receive this wonderful reminder of sweet Ella I feel I should write something as you might notice. Only after reading all the many comments about her do I remember our last visit. It was a good day for Ella, and since I'd moved away my visits were not that frequent, but I always made sure to make my trip to the Moon farm. We sat in her special place and talked about things from the past while she told me so much was slipping away. Like entering a black hole with no way out. She laughed and said "well Wally's down there somewhere, waiting for me".

Her whole life was spent giving to everyone else and it gave her joy, I could see that she was ready. I told her I wouldn't come to her funeral, and she said "would you if I asked you". My answer was no, she'll never be gone for me. Ella is walking around somewhere spreading joy and making everyone laugh. Just remembering her gives me happiness that she was a big part of my life, and I'm not letting her go.......I remember her wonderful smile, she's around somewhere in other people I meet.

What I would like to say about Ella Moon was that she was one of the most amazing women I have ever known. I think about her often and have told friends stories about Moon Farm and how giving and fun she was. She is still in my heart and in my memory as one of the best friends I ever had.

Ella was one of my dearest friends. I miss her and think of her often. She was a leader, a dancer, an angel and she gave her heart to her family and Wallace. No one who ever knew Ella will forget her. So nice to think about her today. Greetings to her family who she loved and gave so much to......With love, M.J. Matteroli.

Ella was one of the most loving and unique people I've known. She cared about everyone and everything, and handled diversity with that winning smile and a big laugh. She is not forgettable and I think of her often. She was very kind to my family and we did a lot of fun things together. I miss her. Know that wherever she is she's staying busy and keeping everyone else busy. She was not a watcher - she was a doer. She made everything fun and full of life. MJ Matteroli

They made a world of make believe on a little farm. I was enthralled from the beginning. Some of my happiest memories of childhood are tied to those acres. Mrs. Moon taught me how to sew and was never too busy to sit down for "tea" in our pretend restaurant. Every child should have a Moon Farm. Rest in peace Mrs. Moon.

How could someone growing up in Fruita not know Ella or the Moon Farm? I remember taking dance lessons as a child from Ella - great times and memories.

Leticia Schumann.....David, thank you so much for inviting me into the farm that day I turned up out of the blue in 2006. I was visiting Colorado on a visit from Australia to see my sick father, and went to "Moon Farm", a happy place for me. I wanted my daughters to see it, Anna & Georgie, as it was such a special place when I was a girl. You remembered me and were surprised to see me and welcomed me with open arms. You showed us your art studio, truly inspiring. Ella welcomed us into her home, and I am so glad that my girls were able to sit and talk with our dear Ella. They could see how special she was. Thank you again David. Love to you and your dear family. Tisha Schumann

My name is Leticia Schumann (Tisha) and “Tishy” to Ella. I live in Australia. Ella Moon is my Godmother. How lucky am I. She was very important to me and to my family as we grew up in the “60s” and went through some hard times. She was there for my mother, Marie, and for all of my sisters, and for me. She was that safe place. She was my dance teacher, my friend, and my family. Ella loved me, she loved everyone, but I always felt special being around her. I think she made everyone feel “special”. I loved her, always, and I am fortunate to have known her and for her to have known me. I remember staying at her home with her and Wallace, Dianna, Michael, while my mother was away in Australia. I was part of the family, protected and safe. Her dance studio in the basement was such an exciting place to visit. She always had costumes partially complete, all kinds, laying around in different places, but coming together in the end. Before our dance classes she would entice us into her kitchen where she offered and shared her specialty, peanut butter cookies! Her passion was her dance, her farm, and making people happy. Her huge heart and wise words are what I will treasure forever. I thank god for her in my life.
Dear Dianna, Michael and all of the Moon family. I am with you now at this time, and share the sadness but also the light that Ella shone on all of us. Thank you for being a part of my life, and for being a part of mine. I love you all. God bless. Tisha

Dance recitals by moonlight, skipping over the frogs as we danced, and Ella always encouraging us to to our best. Great memories for me and the summer camp was a wonderful memory for my daughters.

Moon Family- Words can't adequately express the love, patience, guidance, learning and inspiration your mother gave to the many, many young peple throughout the Grand Valley and thus has spread to the world beyond. She truly was a special gifted LADY that gave so much of herself to others. Our two girls spend many many hours at the "farm" and in the dance studio. Our youngest would still argue with Moon that she broke one of the horses for him. Our hearts go out to the entire family but know you have been blessed with so many memories to take with you in the days ahead. I am sorry we will not be with you in person today as we are out of town at the present but know our love and prayers are with you. Ray, Sue, Michelle and Melynda Greb

My family and I cherish the memories and time spent with Ella and her wonderful family. I know heaven is dancing, as everyone joins in the "hop, shuffle, down" tap routine. Few people have the ability to touch so many lives in such a positive, remarkable way. Ella, you will live on forever in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your life and love.

DiAnn and family,

All my sympathies. Your mom was incredible and so loving. I was lucky to attend MF for a couple of years, learned a couple dance moves to Kool and the Gang, tried to sew but it never took, and cleaned a lot of ornaments in the houses for lollipops :)

Sending healing thoughts your way. Beckie Carrico Hemmerling

Moons Farm will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our daughters, Kelly and Kirsten spent several summers in the Moon's care. They operated a loving and caring facility. If only our grand children had the opportunity.

Ella. A wonderful person. My first art teacher. She taught me how to use a sewing machine and the many uses of modge-podge. She also tried to teach me how to dance but I could never remember the moves. She treated all the kids like they were her own. I wish there was a place like the moon farm for my girl.

The dear Moon family. Ella's pride and joy!! I have always thought of her as my special friend too. We all did. I remember her loving words to me when I was moving to Australia and all my visits "home". I saw her in October and could tell she was wanting to "go see Wally"
May you two be reunited in the Heaven we all know is waiting for you.

Ella's friendship and mine began 40 some years ago. We've had many laughs over the years and spent time doing just that.

She has been an inspiration to me as she has been to so many. She'll never really be gone because so many of us have such wonderful memories of her.

She and Wallace may be beginning to get some new ideas of what Heaven can use. Go to work you two we all need help. With much love, I'll miss you, but will carry your wonderful spirit in my heart. You left your family with enough to talk about until all the Moon's are gone and I send my love to you too. Hopefully they can follow in your footsteps and keep Moon Farm in your's and Wallace's memory. Blessings, Mary Jane

Ella was one of the most influential people I ever met. She shaped my whole childhood, starting with dance lessons.and.recitals down at Moon Farm. What a hoot they were! I.still remember the costumes she hand-sewed for.all the kids, hanging up in long rows in her basement. And during my friends' and my chaotic teen years, she.was there for us, beautifully and wisely helping us navigate through all the crazy challenges you face in those hard growing-up times. She was one 'person of faith' who managed to share her gift of belief in an inspirational way, totally accepting me and my friends without judgment, warts and all. Her catechism classes were most memorable.for the way.she.let us stray from the agenda. We were just.as likely to discuss the Sacraments as our latest boy problems. I never saw her unhappy. She knew her special place in the world, and she lived her life in a spirit of joy.and generosity. What's else to.say but.that I loved her and will never, ever forget her. God speed, dear Ella, and please bring peace and comfort to your lovely family.
