Margaret Koestel Obituary

Margaret Ruth Koestel

April 10, 1928 - December 15, 2021

Margaret Ruth Clark was born April 10, 1928, to Robert W. and Adlee Clark in Leoti, Kansas.

She married Ervin Karl Koestel, the love of her life, December 8, 1945. They had a son, Vernon K. Koestel, in 1954, while living in Salt Lake City, UT, later moving to Grand Junction, CO where their daughter, Rhonda K. (Koestel) Brest was born in 1956. Margaret loved her family dearly and was a salt of the earth, hard working, loving, caring and generous wife, mother, grandma, GG and friend. She was a member of the Redlands United Methodist Church and she loved Jesus.

Over the years Margaret worked as a bookkeeper and was also office manager for Powderhorn Ski Corp. for 25 years before retiring. She was always up for an adventure, traveling, country line dancing, cooking, gardening, flowers and volunteering for many organizations, including the Fruita Welcome Center, the American Cancer Society and RSVP. She was a devoted long time blood donor at St. Mary's. Margaret was an excellent seamstress and could sew anything, including all of her costumes for line dancing.

She was predeceased by her parents; loving husband, Ervin; brother, Robert Clark; sisters, Barbara Clark and Evelyn Clark, and wonderful son-in-law, Leonard Brest. She is survived by son, Vernon Koestel, of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Rhonda Brest, of Grand Junction, CO; granddaughters, Megan (Seth) Luksha, of Grand Junction, CO, and Lindsay (Ryan) Julson, of Basin, WY, and great-grandchildren, Hunter Savageau, Harper Luksha, Jace Julson and Kade Julson.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Tuesday, December 28, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Stillwater Cowboy Church, 968 - 19 Road, Fruita, CO (Turn North on 19 Road off of Hwy. 50 West, then turn East off 19 Road at sign for 968)

We would like to thank the many loving and amazing caregivers and HopeWest Hospice Nurses, CNAs and others who helped to take such wonderful care of our precious Mom, Grandma & GG.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction, CO.

A friend contacted me and told me of Margaret´s passing. She was everything you described and `more.´ (The `more´ included a wonderful sense of humor.) I had the honor of working with Margaret at the Powderhorn office and remember how both the manager of Powderhorn, Harold Harvey, and the Chairman of the Board, Bill Foster, considered Margaret to be integral within the management team.
I am so sorry for your loss.
