Sylvia Musso Obituary

Sylvia Irene Musso April 24, 1942 - March 7, 2006 Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, March 11 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Powell, WY for Sylvia Irene Musso, 63, who died Tuesday, March 7 at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, MT. Father Pete Johnson officiated, and the Yellowstone Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus, of which she was a member, paid final respects with a musical farewell. Coleen Metzler was also a vocalist. She was born Sylvia Irene Anderson on April 24, 1942, in Palisade, CO, to Carl Lewis Anderson and Helen Cora (Bizer) Anderson. She graduated from high school in Palisade, and attended Mesa College for two years, where she met and fell in love with her husband, the late Donald Paul Musso. They were married on Aug. 4, 1962. Don's position with the U.S. Forest Service provided opportunities to live in many beautiful and scenic places in the state of Colorado. Their final transfer brought the family to Powell, WY in 1977. Sylvia worked as a purchasing agent at Powell Valley Healthcare for the past 27 years. She had a passion for music and loved to sing and dance. She sang with the Yellowstone Harmony Women's Barbershop Church and was also involved with the Pink Ladies Septet. Because of her love for the 50's music, she was instrumental in helping to organize their performances. She also enjoyed spending the summers camping and fishing with her friend and companion, George Berchtold. She found great pleasure in spending time with her friends, especially Saturday afternoons with her "Tea Ladies" She will be remembered for her friendly disposition and her cheerful smile. Sylvia loved her family and would always welcome family and friends with open arms. She loved each and every one of her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Her seven grandsons, "the Magnificent 7," each had a special place in her heart. Survivors include a son, Michael Anthony Musso (Lisa) of Powell, WY; three daughters, Karolyn Marie Rood (Darrell) of Powell, WY; Lisa Anne DeBuano (Michael) of Canon City, CO; Suzanne Lynn Conde (Jason) of Loveland, CO; her mother, Helen Anderson Weaver of Grand Junction, CO; four sisters, Pat (Doug) Dean; Carol (Jon) Hiebert; Karen (Richard) DeLeon; and Mary Bein; and seven grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Paul Musso; her father, Carl Lewis Anderson; her mother-in-law, Mary Carmella Musso; and her stepfather, William Weaver. Pallbearers at the funeral were Darrell Rood, Mike DeBuano, Jason Conde, David Bergh, George Berchtold and Bob Vergara. For those who wish, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Yellowstone Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus, c/o Peg Bryan, Box 115, Wapiti, WY 82450 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5353 W. Sylvia was one of the brightest stars of my childhood, besides being my cousin. I had the good fortune to grow up with her and my other cousins. But "Sophie" and I were the partners in crime and mischief and often got into trouble in our adventures in the countryside, the orchard, the canal or up at the wash. I admired her so much as a cheerleader, both at Palisade High and and Mesa College! I wanted to emulate her, with her many talents. She was a heroine to me in so many ways and alsways so fun and full of life. I just gt as letter from her dated March 1, and it breaks my heart that I didn't keep in closer contact with her to let her know how much I love her and what a big impact she has had on my life. I will miss her more than words can say. My prayers are with her extended family, and her wonderful children and grandchildren.

Syliva was a wonderful person and touched so many people lives. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched and I have enjoyed working with her for many years. She was a very gentle, kind loving person.
