Greig Berry Grey former Gladwin Resident. Greg B. Grey, 65, died peacefully on October 02,2022 at the Midland Hospital, with family at his side.
Greg was born in 1957, with twin brother Creig Perry, to Nellie and Perry Grey. He grew up on the family farm in Gladwin County, surrounded by the Breault and Grey families of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He developed a lifelong love for hunting, fishing and softball early in his life, and later, golf. His hobby was making custom golf clubs and playing softball with La Rue's Kil-Kare Soft Ball Club. Greig worked for many years in the Michigan Oilfields, and loved the challenges, later sharing these experiences in a book. He later worked for Big Boy, managing their restaurant in Houghton lake. He loved family dinners, camping, the annual Breault reunion, any interesting challenge, and friends from every venue.
In 1990 Greig was seriously injured in a vehicle accident that left him a quadriplegic for over 30 years. This challenge was met with medical intervention, hard work and an undaunted spirit. Assisted by sister Marlene, he took charge of his daily care, supervised staff and medical care, and lived independently for the rest of his life. His hunting was only slowed by his early challenges, but with his brother Creig, they developed a sip and puff rifle and cross bow, and his over 20 mounts and deer hides show that their efforts paid off. He directed his love for golf at idols of the game, and accompanied by sister Susan, he volunteered at the Memorial pro golf tournament, for many years.
He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Sharon, Marlene, Susan and Creig, many nieces and nephews and many colleagues. Greig has requested that a graveside and burial services include only family, and that a gathering and memorial service be held in the spring, at the baseball field in Houghton Lake, Michigan. Plans will be finalized and announced later.
In Greig's memory please remember
your favorite charity if you like, and please teach a child you love and respect the hunting and fishing sports, to practice utmost safety, and to play softball. Greig Berry Grey Grey
