Cynthia Pollock Obituary

Cynthia Pollock, beloved wife, mother, educator, and coach, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at age 81 in Bradenton, Florida. Born on June 28, 1943, in Oneida, New York, Cynthia's life was marked by a deep love for family, education, and sports.
Growing up in a large family, she excelled in athletics, playing field hockey, basketball, and softball. She also had a passion for music, playing the oboe before switching to percussion in her high school's marching band and orchestra.

After graduating from Oneida High School, Cynthia attended Emporia State College in Kansas, earning her degree in 1965. While there, she met and married Robert (Bob) Pollock in 1964, beginning a lifetime of love and shared adventures.

Cynthia began her career as a physical education teacher at Glens Falls Junior School, later pausing to raise her two sons, Ward and Brad. In 1973, she returned to teaching and became a cornerstone of Corinth School District's athletic program, coaching varsity girls' field hockey and volleyball. She was a dedicated mentor who shaped the lives of many young athletes.

Cynthia and Bob built a loving home in Queensbury, New York, before retiring to Bradenton, Florida, in 1998. There, she embraced golf, sewing, and entrepreneurship, finding joy in travel and new experiences. She played in golf leagues at Peridia, Tellico Village, and Golf Lakes, making lasting friendships along the way.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; sons Ward (Laura Kirkpatrick) and Brad (Ivanna Pollock); and cherished grandchildren, Gavin and Nadia.

A celebration of life will be held on March 7 at Peridia Golf and Country Club's Palm Room, Bradenton, FL. Cynthia's warmth, strength, and passion will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Pollock,
You will never know how important you were in my life. You spent time with me and turned on a bright light in a very dark time.
When I was prevented from playing volleyball, you chose me to be the scorekeeper. It seems like something so minimal but truly something I needed to get me through some very difficult times. I have missed you since you left Corinth. I hope your afterlife is fitting for the fine, caring, loving role model you were.

So very sorry for your loss. I must have given her a thousand excuses for why I couldn't participate in gym class; she always found something for me to do on the rare occasions she let me get out of class. She was a special person.

Mrs Pollack taught us the basic of all our sports. She led us on the volley ball court and on the field hockey field. It doesn´t seem so hard, except she did that after having us all day. Here´s hoping she´s got a volleyball in one hand and whistle in the other.
