Edward Barili Obituary

Queensbury/Lake George – Edward S. 'Ted' Barili, 85, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at home after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.

Born July 21, 1939, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of late Jean and Doris (Thomson-Fryer) Barili.

Ted graduated from Kutztown State College in Pennsylvania and then went on to receive his Masters of Education of Art from SUNY Albany.

Mr. Barili started his teaching career at Nether Providence School District in Pennsylvania, where he spent three years before deciding to move to Upstate New York in 1968. It was here that he went to work in the Glens Falls School District as an Art Educator with all grade levels. During his career here, he was a Department Head and Advisor with the Yearbook Committee, Ski Club and Photography Club. Mr. Barili loved teaching and sharing his love of art.

When he was not teaching, Ted enjoyed model railroads, skiing, reading, listening to all kinds of music and photography. He was a skilled home carpenter, a pilot, who enjoyed his private plane and a gun enthusiast, who supported the 2nd Amendment. Ted loved all animals and spending time out in his backyard enjoying the wildlife.

Edward is survived by his wife, Roberta J Barili; his children, Chris (Mireille) Barili and Kim Lawson; his grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Kolby, and Kaycee, and his great grandchildren, Elijah, Oliver, and Avery He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Fryer; his sister, Terri (Gary) Newlin; his nieces, Julie Bailey and Tracey Lewis Fazzini; his brother and sister in-law, James (Janice) Leary; his nephew Michael (Brandee) Leary; his niece, Morgan (Kirk) Scallon, along with his dog, Gracie and cat, Tigger.

The family will schedule a celebration of life at a later date.

Im sooo sorry to hear of Mr. Barili´s passing. I had him as an art teacher all through elementary school and ski club in middle school. He was my FAVORITE TEACHER!!! He inspired me in art and was a kind, warm and super funny man. The world was a better place with him in it!! I was just thinking of him about 1 week ago when my sister told me yesterday he had passedIm so sorry but i know he touched everyone he met and i will never forget himfondly Emily Davidson

Mr. Barili was an amazing art teacher, and is really the reason behind my career. I have wonderful memories of time in his classroom and his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to handle middle school students. He made a great impact on my life.
My deepest condolences to his family.
