Garry L. Hamlin

QUEENSBURY - Garry L. Hamlin, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Roy M. and Mary (Case) Hamlin.

He was a graduate of Glens Falls High School, Class of 1961.

Garry was a veteran with the US Marine Corps and graduated from Parris Island boot camp with a 5.0-5.0 rating. He qualified and was honored to be selected for the Presidential Guard in Washington DC. He proudly served his country from 1961-1965 before being discharged as a Corporal.

After his honorable service to the Marine Corps, he began an apprenticeship with the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Local 64 Glens Falls and later merged with BAC Local 2 Albany. He also served as President of the Union for 35 years, until his retirement in 1999. While serving, he fought to strengthen the Union and worked to get members the benefits they deserved.

Over the years, he enjoyed coaching Little League, fishing, visiting his grandchildren, playing golf, and spending time at The Pub. As time passed, The Pub turned into Friday nights at the Talk of the Town. Garry attended events for his children and devoted time to his family. Upon retiring, Garry enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motorhome until eventually spending winters in Crystal River, Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his three brothers - Terry, Larry and Roy Hamlin.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (McLaughlin) Hamlin, his children - Chris, Kim and Knox (Jill) and three cherished granddaughters - Jordan, Lily and Allie. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law - Jacqueline Hamlin, Sherryn Espeseth and Joy (Chet) Siuda along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family.

Family and friends may call from 4 – 6 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY.

Burial with military honors will take place at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
