Charles H. "Chuck" Gagnon

January 23, 1922 - February 4, 2018

Mason City – Charles H. "Chuck" Gagnon, 96, of Mason City, died on February 4, 2018 of natural causes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Epiphany Parish, Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Neil Manternach, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City where military honors will be provided by the Mason City Veterans and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, February 7, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm.

In lieu of custom remembrances, memorials may be given in Chuck's name to Hospice of North Iowa.

Charles Henry "Chuck" Gagnon was born in Mason City, Iowa on January 23, 1922 to John and Blanche (Bryant) Gagnon. He attended and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School. He was united in marriage to Therese Mae Donnelly on August 4, 1945 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.

On July 1, 1942 Chuck enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served in the South Pacific during World War II until his honorable discharge in December of 1945.

The family later moved to Ventura, California where Chuck worked as an offset pressman. Upon returning the Mason City he continued his work in Ellsworth and Mason City until his retirement. Following retirement Chuck tried his hand at golf and fishing before reentering the workforce as a courtesy van driver for Ford. In 2011 he was honored to participate on a WWII Honor Flight to Washington DC.

Throughout the years he and Therese loved dancing and frequented dances at Timmerman's in Dubuque or in Prairie Du Chien. Chuck was also very active within the Knights of Columbus and had held the position of Faithful Navigator. He could oftentimes be found helping at the KC Fish Fry and fundraising for the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Therese; children, Mary Sue Payne, Garret (Mary) Gagnon, Jane (Rocky) Hill, and Paul (Glynis) Gagnon; grandchildren, Brent, Deanna, Micki, Amy, Stacy, Katie, Amy Lee, Ashley, and Alyssa; as well as many great grandchildren, extended relatives, and many friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
