David V. Lees

CLAREMORE, OK - On the morning of December 14, 2023, David "Dave" V. Lees of Claremore, OK passed away.
Dave was born to John and Donna Glee Lees in Griswold, Iowa March 9, 1941. The Lees family moved to Lodi, California from 1945 to 1949. In the fall of '49 they moved back to Iowa and the town of Oakland. There, Dave met and later married Joyce Sweeney in July 1960. Together they raised three children, Jeff, Mitch, and Tiffany. In 1965 Dave and his family moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Through Dave's position as a sales representative at KIOA radio station, Dave made numerous business contacts that developed into friendships and business opportunities. He could best be described as an entrepreneur.
Dave and his family moved to Mason City, Iowa in 1972 and he opened the second of five Muffler Clinics in Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota. In 1977 Dave started the Briarstone housing and retail development project that included Perkins, Taco-Tico, and other retail establishments.
Dave moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1998, started another land development project, divorced, and relocated to Missouri. There, he married his second wife, Lisa Hoss, in 2001 and started another development project near Camdenton and Lake of the Ozarks.
After settling in Claremore, OK in 2008, Dave ended his last development project in the summer of 2023.
He will be remembered by friends and family for his sense of humor, mischievousness, his laughter, and achievements.
Per Dave's wishes, his body was cremated. There is to to be a private memorial ceremony.

Sorry to here about Dave. I worked for his Muffler Clinics from 1972 to 1978 when I bought him out of 1. Will miss him.

So sorry to hear about Dave. He and Joyce were friends of ours in Mason City. It was a good time. He and I had the same birthday! May he rest in peace.
