Wrote and sang the absolute best doo wop song of all time, and one of the best tunes ever produced in the USA. Fist heard it in 56 and still turn up the radio each and every time I hear it today.

To the family of Fred Paris, I can't begin to count how many times I have heard, played and sang "In The Still of the Night"! In my opinion "In The Still of the Night", a CLASSIC, hands down is one of the greatest top 5 rock and roll records of all time; without a doubt! Fred Paris & The Five Satins are so very much a part of 1950's America but yet, carried on through the generations. I personally have seen him in concert many times, loved each and every show and I thank God for that. If they never recorded another song, "In The Still of the Night" would have been enough to solidify their rightful place in American Rock & Roll. My sincerest condolences and sympathies to the Paris family. He was one of the greats and may God Rest his Soul. RIP Freddy, you will never be forgotten, Rock On............ I have been a collector of this music since I was 12 years old and Fred Parris was always my favorite lead singer. That is saying something because their was Willie Winfield, Sonny Til, Rudy West, etc. I voted him the best on numerous occasions. As a matter of fact my friend, the late Ronnie I, used to call me the leader of the Fred Parris fan club. Besides In the Still ofthe Night there was Your Memory, She's Gone with The Wind, Memories of Days Gone By, The Voice and so many more. If I ever had an idol in music it was Fred. I have repeatedly listened to his music on You Tube and from my own collection. I regret never having had the opportunity to sit and talk with him about his music.

Fred was so many things to people who loved him. But to God, he was his child. He lived his life, bringing joy to so many, in the world, he opened doors for so many. I thank you Fred for allowing my brother Jerold to sing, and play his guitar in the 60´s, at The Apollo. Even I went into gospel music, because of your inspiration. I was so glad to see you at the last party, to see you, and Richie. You will be missed, but the song you wrote, will live on for many years, In the still of the night. We will all meet again, one day. The love never dies, because the God we serve is Love. So long Fred, love from your brothers, Jerold and Keko. Give our Love to everyone up there, especially Jesus.

Had the extreme good fortune to meet Fred twice. The first time was in Baltimore, Md. in the mid -1970's. He spent an entire break with us during an engagement at a night club. The second time was after a show in Uniontown, Pa. in 2004. Thank you, Emma, for arranging that meeting. Both times, Fred was nothing short of a perfect gentleman and host. He spent time talking with us and allowed pictures. It was a pure pleasure being with one of the greatest doo-wop singers there ever was, or will be. May God bless you, Fred, and all of your family and friends. Maybe someday we'll meet again, hopefully in Heaven.

My deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to the Parris Family. I had the privilege of sitting in the same section at church in West Haven CT with Mr. Parris and his lovely family. It would be some time before I come know he was the lead singer of the Five Satins, but until then there was certainly something about him I thought he had an Ora about him that just stood out. One day at a flower shop in West Haven I was at the cashier checking out.peering from beneath the glass counter top was pictures of famous peoplein the middle of all the photos were an 8x10 black and white photo of the familiar Five Satins. While looking down at the posed men I immediately recognized Mr. Parris!
When I saw him again at church (I always sat behind him; we’d exchange small conversations and a handshake), I asked if he was one of the Five Satins, he said he was. I begin telling him how I come to realize this and couldn’t believe I had been sitting behind the lead singer of one of my father’s most beloved songs and because of that I too was a fan. I asked if I could trouble him for an autographed photohe said, “If I could quickly locate a copy, sure!” The following Sunday I had an autographed photo in hand I really appreciated his quick response. After all the years passed, he continued to sing, and did so quite well. I’ve had the privilege watching him perform a couple occasions.what a gem he was.
He is singing with the Angels now, so may he RIP .. In God we Trust and Blessings to you
all.

My condolences to Fred Parris's family. I worked at Nobody Beats the Wiz way back in 1994. It was at the Milford mall. I sold Fred a tape deck. I did not know who he was until I was checking him out to buy the item and he told me his name. He autographed a document for me. I have it framed. I've always loved his music and the Doo Wop sound. I'm 65 years old and I was born the year he wrote "In the Still of the Night" in 1956. I've got an older brother and sister who turned me on to the great oldies music. R.I.P. Mr. Parris.....
