Janice Ludwig Obituary

BODE - Janice L. Ludwig died Friday (May 26, 2006) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. She was 72 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Berka officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Titonka.

Janice L. Ludwig was born on March 8, 1934, in Bode, Iowa, the daughter of Delmar and Thora Lomen Kinseth. She grew up in Bode where she attended school and later went on to West Bend High School.

On Sept. 16, 1950, Janice was united in marriage to Carl Ludwig in West Bend, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed near Emmetsburg, Iowa. Carl went back to building elevators and the couple moved several times throughout Nebraska, Texas and Iowa before settling in Titonka in 1956. Janice went to work at the cafe in Titonka before becoming bookkeeper at the Tyke Service Center, which the couple owned and operated. They later started Ludwig Ready Mix where she did the bookkeeping and mixed cement.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing the piano, traveling and doing needlework and embroidery. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was elected dutchess of the 1998 Titonka Centennial. She was also a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. Janice loved singing hymns and it wasn't uncommon to find her sitting outside singing them.

Janice treasured her morning coffee times with all her friends at the coffee shop in Tyke. She enjoyed going to both Gary's and Pam's farms and playing and teasing with her great-grandchildren. Janice's favorite sayings were "God never gives you more than you can handle," and "It'll work out, don't worry." Janice's love for watermelon and jelly beans was immeasurable.

Janice is survived by her mother, Thora Kinseth, of Titonka; son, Gary, and Barbara Ludwig of Forest City; daughter, Pamela, and Jim Hansen of Hampton; grandchildren, Jaclyn and Scott Heiser, Nathan Ludwig and fiance, Jill Farnham, Jym and Elaine Hansen and Adam Hansen; great-grandchildren, Emma, Chandler and Betsy Heiser, Megan Rieken, Abby, Alex and Cole Hansen; brother, Robert, and Delores Kinseth of Grinnell; sister, Rachael, and Wayne Senne of Urbandale, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
