Joanne Wilson Obituary
Born and raised in Mason City, Iowa she moved to Minneapolis to begin her adult life and career journey which included Braniff Airlines Supervisor, Paralegal, Computer Programmer, Programming Instructor and culminating as an IT Manager for Travelers Insurance Group where she retired.
Jody was an avid reader, oftentimes reading 3 books at a time. She loved playing 500 cards, watching and yelling at the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, buying jewelry and collecting Beanie Babies for her grandchildren (when they were a thing).
She was proud of her Irish heritage and the trip of her life was traveling with her devoted and equally "full of the dickens" sister Marge to Ireland where they saw the country, visited with relatives and bought Waterford Crystal and Belleek China (lots of it).
After retirement, Jody spent several years living in South Carolina where she enjoyed being near family, learning Bridge, meeting new friends and being out of the cold.
Jody overcame many challenges in her life, including maintaining sobriety for 50+ years, which provided her with deep empathy for others. Her sense of humor was an anchor and even as dementia took its toll, she maintained her sense of the absurd for quite some time.
Upon returning to Minnesota, she had the good fortune of having many loving relatives by her side who will remember her fondly, especially her wonderful smile.
Survived by children Kathy (Fred) Bach, Maradee Lane, Dan Wilson; grandchildren Alex Bach, Nate (Mara Kinney) Bach, sister Marge (Larry) Decklever, sisters in law Sue and Rita Hubbard and many nephews and nieces.
Preceded in death by her parents Joe and Erin Hubbard, brothers Dave, Jerry and Mike Hubbard and granddaughter Maggie Lane.
A small gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, May 15th from 3:00 - 5:30 at Prime & Wine, Mason City, IA.
