Leslie Kruse Obituary

HAMPTON - Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, with the Rev. Karl Bollhagen and Vicar David Lingard officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Leslie Carl Kruse, 86, of Hampton passed away Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2008) at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

He was born March 28, 1921, in Hampton, to Carl G. and Sophia (Schulz) Kruse. Leslie graduated from the Hampton Community High School. He married Gertrude Grunder on Feb. 25, 1951, in Wilton Junction. Leslie was a farmer and farmed in Mott Township all his life. He was proud of the fact that the family farm became a Century Farm in 1994.

Leslie was active in many groups and organizations. He was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Men's Club and served as Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and on the Board of Elders. He also served on the Chapin Elevator Board, was a 4-H leader and active in the Purebred Angus Association.

After Leslie retired from farming he enjoyed his time, continuing activities with family and friends, at church and at the Hampton Senior Center. Most recently he was a resident of the Hampton Health Care Center and made many friends while living there.

He enjoyed playing cards with his buddies and Friday afternoon bingo. The staff at the Hampton Health Care Center really made him feel like the special person he was.

Leslie is survived by his daughter Marlys and husband, John, Stefl of Runnells, daughter Rhonda and husband, Bruce, Nordin of Minneapolis, Minn.; son Paul and wife, Teresa, Kruse of Granger; brother, Clarence and wife, Ione, Kruse of Hampton; grandchildren, Tim and wife, Holly, Stefl, Kristen and husband, Nick, Boyd, Lisa Stefl and Mark Stefl, Addison Nordin, Ian Nordin and Harrison Kruse.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, in 2007; his parents; sister, Velma Fehd; and infant brother.

Marlyn, Rhonda, Paul & all family,
I am so sad to read of your Dad's passing. He was such a kind-hearted man and I know you take comfort in the fact that he is with the Lord and joined with your mother. I enjoyed my visits with him at the care center the last couple of summers on visits there. He loved you all so much.
In sympathy, Linda
