MASON CITY | Michael J. Trenary, 51, of Mason City, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Per Mike's request, his body will be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Michael J. Trenary Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.
Mike was born Sept. 17, 1962, in Mason City the son of James and Erika (Murnigkeit) Trenary. He attended North Central Manly Schools. Mike married Sheryl Quade March 12, 1983 at the Riverside Friends Church in Mason City. At a young age, Mike went to work for Cerro Gordo County. He was currently working for the road department and has been employed by the county for 35 years. Mike was a very giving person and enjoyed spending time with his family. A few of his interests included tinkering with cars, NASCAR, collecting coins and he was a Minnesota Vikings fan.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sheryl of Mason City; son, Christopher of Mason City; daughter, Jessica of Mason City; granddaughter, Dakota of Mason City; siblings, Monica (Dave) Teeter of Mason City, Jerry D. (Julie) Whitney Jr. of Manly, Jamey M. (Lisa) Whitney of Emmetsburg, Steve (Lori) Whitney of Mason City, Tim Whitney of Minnesota and Wendy (Jeff) Ewing of Mason City; parents-in-law, Wesley and Lois Quade of Nora Springs; mother-in-law, Jean Hungerford of Manly; aunt, Anna Murnigkeit; dog, Gizmo and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, James Trenary; mother, Erika Whitney; stepfather, Jerry Whitney Jr.; grandparents, and uncle, Horst Murnigkeit
