Robert S. Jacobs
December 2, 1970-February 29, 2024
Robert S. Jacobs, 53, of Brookshire, TX and formerly from Mason City, IA passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Robert, the youngest of three siblings, was born December 2, 1970, to Dean & Bonnie (Court) Jacobs. He graduated from Mason City High School and received his A.A. from NIACC. Robert continued to UNI where he graduated with a degree in finance. After working in the financial industry for years, Robert left to join his father-in-law's business, Woodharbor Cabinetry.
Robert, who actually enjoyed being a student, returned to NIACC to pursue his nursing degree. He then joined the critical care unit at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, IA. During the pandemic in 2020, Robert took a nursing job in one of Houston, TX's "hotspots" and completed his career at Houston Methodist West Hospital.
Whether it was tubing the San Marcos River, going on coffee dates with his girls, or eating tacos at his favorite brewery, Robert loved being a Texan. He loved nature, exploring, and finding new places for his family to see.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed late night electric scooter trips, discovering new breweries, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was always planning the next adventure for everyone, whether it was hiking the Cascades in Oregon or going back to ski the mountains of Idaho.
Although too short, Robert's life was well lived. He was a friend to everyone he met and was the example we followed. Those grateful in sharing his life include his wife, Brenda; children, Benjamin, Katherine, Anna, & Isabel; parents, Dean & Bonnie Jacobs; siblings, Connie Jacobs Thompson (daughter Ashley Reinhart) and Doug Jacobs; siblings-in-law, Aimee & Lawerence Schroeder (Griffin & Gianna), Ben & Julie Lewerke (Hudson, Riley, & Drake), Jonathan & Stephanie Lewerke (Riley Rose, Kason & Sloane).
Robert is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Jonathan & Jo Ellen Lewerke; grandparents, Edward & Myrtle Jacobs, Bertrum & Christine Court; and his beloved dog, Lucy Jacobs.

Sorry to hear about Bob. We were close friends back in elementary & middle school days. Still have many memories of Star Wars, Atari, and sleepovers.

Robert was a coworker in the Critical Care unit at Mercy. He was one of the kindest people I know. My life is richer having known him. His care and compassion for his patients, his work family and his own family shined brightly. Robert had a ready smile and kind word for everyone. God bless his memories to his family and to all who knew him.
