Scott City Obituary

MASON CITY | Scott Thomas Friest, 51, of Mason City, Iowa, died Monday May 9, 2017, at his home. A gathering of friends and family will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Iowa, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.

There will be a time of sharing and refreshments following the service at the Georgia Hanford Park, 22nd St. S.E., Mason City, Iowa.

As in life Scott was a caring loving person and even in death, he continued by donating to Iowa Donor Network.

Family suggests memorials to Scott Thomas Friest memorial fund in care of Ken Friest, Box 204, Harpers Ferry, IA 52146.

Scott was born July 24, 1965, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Anita (Siebenbrunner) Friest.

He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1983 and continued his education at North Iowa Community College, Mason City, Iowa.

He went to work for E.L. Secory Plumbing in Clear Lake. He then worked for Dennis Nelson construction. The last nine years he has been employed by Mills Fleet Farm, Mason City, Iowa.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cabin at Harpers Ferry. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sports and NASCAR.

He is survived by his parents, Ken and Anita Friest, Harpers Ferry, Iowa; his fiancé Tonya Tidemanson, Mason City, Iowa; three children Amanda (Allen) Wacek, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Kenneth (Michelle) Friest, Mason City, Iowa, and Jacob Friest, Clear Lake, Iowa; two stepchildren, Nate Schmidt and Antony Schmidt, both of Mason City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; his brother Greg Friest, Harpers Ferry, Iowa; nephew Dylan Friest, Mason City, Iowa and uncles and aunts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle.
