Teri Reed Obituary

Teri Lynne Reed

May 28, 1955 - February 1, 2025

Teri Lynne Reed, 69, of Mason City, Iowa, got her angel wings on February 1, 2025, after long-fought health battles. As a woman of very devout faith with a close and deep relationship with her Lord, there was never any doubt that she was always destined for heaven.

Teri was born on May 28, 1955 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Edgar and Alma (Hollatz) Reed.

Teri graduated from Mason City High School in 1973. She made many life-long friends during her time in school, many of whom she was often separated from in school due to her love of chatting during class.

That "gift of gab" meant she never knew a stranger -- a trait that served her well during her 30-plus year financial services career. She was very proud to get to know all her customers and took the time to truly get to know them so that she could ensure they got the absolute best service and exactly right products they needed!

If you knew Teri, you undoubtedly knew she had many passions. She loved the Minnesota Vikings -- and hopefully in heaven she finally gets to see them get a Super Bowl win! She loved all animals -- especially her fur babies and grand fur babies. Crafting and gardening were her absolute favorite hobbies, and -- if you were lucky -- you may have gotten one of the amazing creations she made or one of the hundreds of plants she saved over the years. Her backyard was a garden oasis where she spent hundreds of hours.

As much as Teri loved many things about the Midwest, the cold weather was not one of those things. Her loved ditching the frigid temps to head South for vacations. Her happy place was working on her tan, anywhere with sunshine, water and sand with favorite of all trips being those to Jamaica, where she loved being a "Bob's Babe" with her sister-in-law, Sheryl. She was grateful for the amazing memories of those vacations and to have many family members and friends join her there!

She loved being part of and serving the Mason City community, volunteering in many ways over the years. She was especially grateful for her years as part of the Mason City Exchange Club and of being a life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Teri was the proud mom of Jami (Chris) Schear and Jake (Dana) Peterson, but the even prouder Mema and Grandma to Emma, Brooklyn, Jenna, Alex, Zach, Thomis and Carlie. She loved sharing stories about her grandchildren with anyone who would listen!

Teri leaves countless friends and family to cherish her memory and remember her megawatt smile. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she will be missed by her brother, Lanny (Barb) Reed and sisters-in-law, Pat Reed and Sheryl Reed.

Greeting her with great big hugs in heaven are her parents, Ed and Alma Reed; brothers, Dan Reed and Phil Reed; and her beloved fur babies, Brandy, Max, Harley and Allie.

Private interment plans are pending.

Anyone wishing to honor Teri's memory may do so by making a donation to or volunteering at your local animal shelter, greeting folks you meet with a huge smile, and by cheering very, very loudly for the Minnesota Vikings! Go Vikes!

So sad to hear of Teri's passing. She was so full of life she would have been the last I expected to see here. Sending prayers for her family and friends.

Teri was one of the kindest people we knew. Her heart was as big as her smile! We got to know her through the credit union and also when Gary was in the Exchange Club with her. She loved sneaking food under the table to Solomon which Gary would admonish her for but he really loved it! She used to pick him up for meetings in her cute little blue VW. Condolences to her family. We are so sorry for your loss. Jami, we met you at the Iowa State Fair when you recognized Gary with his dog
