Ben David

GREENSBORO-Ben David, 91 years of age, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away suddenly, Monday, January 21, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Ben was born in Chester, PA on December 13, 1921. He worked in the jewelry business starting at a young age. He married Rebecca and they planned to move to Danville, VA in 1955 for one year, just enough time to gain experience as a Jewelry store manager before returning to their family up north.

After working for Jewel Box for one year, Ben, Rebecca and two year old Leon moved to Winchester VA for one year. Ben & Rebecca realized they had made great friends in Danville, they moved back and purchased Julian Jewelers. In 1959 Ben David Jewelers was founded . Ben & 'Bec' raised their two children & became involved in the community. After working for 25 years he retired and gave his two sons Ben David Jewelers. He & Bec retired part-time to West Palm Beach Florida . In 1999 they moved from Danville to Greensboro, NC. Ben loved life, loved everyone he met and made this world a better place through his friendship and charitable involvement in numerous endeavors. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Ben is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Rebecca 'Bec' David, his sons, Leon David (Jackie) and Mark David (Cheryl), his five grandchildren, Jordan (Danielle), Julia, Blaire(George), Jake and Jennie and his great grandson, Maureece. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 22nd at 2 p.m. at Beth David Synagogue. Burial will follow in the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery. I worked with Mr. David and Rebecca at Ben David Jewelers late 60's early 70's. I came to respect, admire and see a fine gentleman and gentle man. He was one of the best employer and cared for the entire family as well.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed by his many friends and his loving family.
