Danny Raleigh Moore, 70, of 811 Broad Street, Altavista died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ethel "Bee" Moore for forty-seven years.He was born July 11, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late Raleigh and Janie Hattie Haskins Moore. He was a member with a great love and passion for Open Bible Baptist Church. Danny served his country in Germany with the U.S. Army and later with the Virginia Army National Guard. Following many years with B&W, he enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his grandchildren, Gregory, India, Ethan, Danielle, Annaleah, Andrew, and Payton.In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Kimberley Moore Watkins and her husband Greg of Raleigh, NC, Tracey Moore Dawson and her husband Eddie of Gretna, Amanda Moore of Arlington and her fiance Matthew Bernstein, Rebecca Moore Scott and her husband Shawn of Lynch Station; a brother, Kenneth Moore of Altavista; four sisters, Joan M. Dalton and her husband James of Gretna, Betty M. Clay and her husband Marvin of South Boston, Joyce M. Smith and her husband Wayne of Altavista, and Brenda M. Johnson and her husband H.T. of Cary, NC.A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Timothy Kyser. Burial will follow at Altavista Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36/Gretna Post 231.The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider Gideons International, Altavista Camp, P.O.
