DARRELL RIDDLE Obituary

Darrell Wade Riddle

Darrell Wade Riddle, age 50, of 3104 Snakepath Rd. Blairs, VA died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Gretna Health Care Center in Gretna. He was born on June 28, 1960, in Danville, VA the son of Harold Wade Riddle and the late Margaret Anne Riddle.

In addition to his wife Olympia, Mr. Riddle is survived by two sons, Darrell Wade Riddle, II and Jeremy Allan Riddle, both of Blairs; two daughters, Kristen Riddle Myers and her husband Thomas H. Myers II of Tacoma, WA, and Morgan LeeAnne Riddle of Blairs; three brothers, Carroll Wayne Riddle of Blairs, Gary William Riddle of Chatham, Stephen Ray Riddle of Blairs and two grandchildren, Madelyn and Jacob Myers of Tacoma, WA.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday January 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Scott Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Terry Schultz officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home Friday December 31, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm and other times will be at the residence.

Scott Funeral Home in Chatham is respectfully serving the Riddle family.

This is his daughter Morgan riddle, I miss you dad so much it has been so very long since you passed I am now 19 years old now and just typing it doesn´t sound real, I miss us going fishing together , and all the tea parties we would have, and all the puzzles we would solve together, I always wondered how my life would be like if you were still here. I love you dad so much!

Jimmy and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Darrel. We have known he and his family for so many years. He would in later years come to our bait and tackle shop for minnows or worms to fish with, when we had the business. Our heart goes out to all he has left behind as I know he will be greatly missed. I send my deepest sympathies to the Riddle family, I had known Darrell ever since my entry into the Virginia Guard since I was a young 18 year old kid. He was a mentor to me to "Always do right by the Soldier" no matter what the cost or who you might make angry; and I live by that to this day. He was the example of a fine NCO and I will greatly miss him. May God Comfort your family during this time.

Darrell and I worked together in Danville in the late 80's and early 90's. We stayed in contact with each other until he retired. Great guy, devoted dad, a soldier tried and true. A good friend of mine who will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Riddle family. Darrell will be missed very much. It just doesn't seem real. Tommy, Jessie, and I will never forget the good times of visiting with Darrell and Olympia, the fishing at the pond, cook-outs, etc.. Jessie will miss her "Herbie" very much. Darrell and I worked together for many years, and his devotion to serving the military was evident in all he did for the men of his unit.
