Doris Turman Bowling

December 25, 1929 - March 7, 2022

Doris Turman Bowling, 92, formerly of Danville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2022.

She was born in Carroll County, Va., on December 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Troy Limon Turman and Maudie Lee Turman. Doris retired from Dan River Mills after 38 years of service. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. On August 20, 1959, she married Clarence Victor Bowling, who passed away on December 20, 2012.

Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Thompson (Leonard); two sisters, Hassie T. Moore and Beulah T. Hill; a brother, H. L. "Peanut" Turman; four grandchildren, Sabrina Paschal (Mike), Tony Thompson (Renee), Andy Horsley (Tiffany), and Tonya McKnight (Wayne); five great-grandchildren, Ari, Bobby, Zach, Desiree, Lane; three great great-grandchildren, Willow, Justus, and Asher; a stepdaughter, Sandra Check (Connie) and her family; and one special nephew, Avalon Bowling.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Ronald Horsley; a stepdaughter, Vickie Burton; and two brothers, Eldridge and Odell Turman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences at www.wrenn-yeatts.com. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Bowling family.
