Elsie Aherron, 100, of Danville, Va., departed this earthly life on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Mrs. Aherron was born on September 20, 1922, and was raised by her foster parents, the late Henry Thomas Brown and Eva Josephine Tate Brown. She was married to the late William Thomas Aherron.

She attended The First Church of the Living God in Danville, Va. until her death. She was a homemaker and worked in Dan River Mills. She was also a sitter for many years. Mrs. Aherron was a beloved and devoted mother to her seven children.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald Wayne Aherron of Keeling, Va., and William Thomas Aherron (Cindy) of Providence, N.C.; her daughters, Peggy A. Taylor and Martha Aherron, both of Danville, Va., and Linda A. Pruitt (George) of Union Hall, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Pansy Aherron of Keeling, Va.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her foster parents and husband, Mrs. Aherron was predeceased by her son, Henry Thomas Aherron; daughter, Nancy Susan Aherron Boyd; foster brother, Charles E. Brown; son-in-law, Charles Dee Taylor; and her special friend, James Bobby Gauldin.

A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, 2 p.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Adrian Moore officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday night from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and at other times the family will be at the residence of her son, William and Cindy Aherron, 1812 Park Springs Road, Providence, NC 27315.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Sandy Wilson of Commonwealth Hospice and Jennifer Thurman formally of Commonwealth Hospice, for providing such great care and support to our mother and family during this time.

I recall spending nights at your home, thinking how gracious and welcoming your mother was. Regretfully, due to health issues of my own, I will not be able to attend the services.
