Frank Talbott III, formerly of Danville, died at Westminster Canterbury in Richmond, at age 88, on Friday, July 21, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 65 years, Beverley Chewning Talbott; his sister, Margaret Talbott Kelley; and his parents, Margaret Jordan Talbott and Frank Talbott Jr. He is survived by his children, Mary Beverley Talbott and Frank Talbott IV (Bocky); grandchildren, Frank Talbott V (Emily), Matthew McKinnon Talbott, and Garland Stephens Talbott; and great-granddaughter, Claiborne McKinnon Talbott. Frank was educated in Danville public schools and at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He received his B.A. and law degrees from the University of Virginia where he was a member of St. Anthony Hall and the Mystic Order of Eli Bannana. He later served on the boards of the Virginia Student Aid Foundation and University of Virginia Alumni Association. Frank served on active duty with the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. Following Army service, he returned to Danville to practice law with the firm of Meade, Talbott & Tate. He later served as Vice President and General Counsel of Dan River Mills, General Counsel to the Virginia Manufacturers Association, and became of counsel with the firm of Woods Rogers before retiring in 2010. He was a former president of the Danville Bar Association and an Executive Committee member of the Virginia Bar Association. In Danville, Frank served on the boards of the Memorial Hospital, the Danville School Board, and the First National Bank. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Green Hill Cemetery, Danville, Virginia.
