James Goad Obituary


DANVILLE, Va. - James Berry Goad, 82, of 209 Parrish Road, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

Born June 29, 1922 in Altavista, Va., he was a son of Charles T. Goad and Connie Martin Goad.

He retired from C & P Telephone Company in 1984 after 37 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was married to Reba Scarce Goad.

In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by two sons, Richard T. Goad and Carl E. Goad, both of Danville; one brother, Charles T. Goad Jr. of Greensboro; two sisters, Janie G. Deitrick and Vivian G. McDaniel, both of Danville; and one grandson.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Vornov officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 209 Parrish Road.

Townes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
