James Webster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brooks & White Funeral Home and Crematory - Roxboro on Feb. 16, 2026.
James Hurdle Webster Jr., 79, of Semora, NC passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. Born June 29, 1946, in Alamance County, he was the beloved son of the late James Hurdle Webster Sr. and Mary Harden Webster.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Durham Barker; children, Chris Webster (Amy), Tracy Webster New (Kenny), Gary Webster (Lisa), Cecil Barker (Renee) and Jennifer Barker Roberts (Matt); grandchildren, CJ Webster, Micah New, Mikayla Shelton, Allie Barker, Preston Barker, Samuel Barker, Kennedy Cox, Karoline Cox, Talley Roberts, Cory Webster and Casey Boyd; great grandchildren, Charlotte Jo Cox, Jace Webster, Savannah Webster, Harper Boyd and Kylie Boyd; siblings, Ricky Webster, Patricia Sutton and Vicky Wilkins; and nephew, Jimmy Durham.

Mr. Webster was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School and later received two degrees from Piedmont Community College.

Lovingly known as Buzz and Popa Buzz, he was a proud Vietnam Veteran, dedicated community member, and a deeply devoted family man. Buzz lived a life marked by service, patriotism, and unwavering love. He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, carrying a lifelong pride in his nation and respect for his fellow service men and women. His love for America was evident in the way he lived – standing for what is right, honoring the flag, and supporting veterans whenever he could.

Following his military service, Buzz built a long career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Danville, VA. After retirement, you were likely to find him at his favorite store "Ma Barker's" scratching lottery tickets and spending time with friends.

Buzz was an active and respected member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club of VA, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his passion for riding and camaraderie. He was also an active member of the Semora Ruritan Club. Through these organizations, he gave back to his community and exemplified servant leadership.

Above all else, he cherished his family. Popa Buzz was a source of strength, laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved - sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held in April 2026. In lieu of flowers and food, memorials may be made to the Semora Ruritan Club, 14771 NC Hwy 119 N, Semora, NC 27343, or to the Semora Volunteer Fire Department, 4997 NC Hwy 57 N, Semora, NC 27343.

Visitors are welcome at his home at 15505 Hwy 119 N, Semora, NC.
