James Strader Obituary


RIDGEWAY, Va. - James B. Strader, 81, of Ridgeway, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at his residence.
He was born in Caswell County, N.C., on March 15, 1924 to Horace G. Strader and Annie Lillard Strader.
He graduated from Cobb High School in Pelham, N.C., and served in the Army during World War II in the American Theatre, where he received the Earnet Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
He was a Free Mason with Piedmont Masonic Lodge 152 in Martinsville and was also a Shriner with Kazim Temple in Roanoke, Va.
He was owner of Martinsville Retreading, a partner in Riverside Tire in Martinsville and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Pelham, N.C. In his later years, he was an avid gardener and the vegetables he grew brought much pleasure to his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Della Dix Strader on May 24, 2004.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Saunders and her husband, Tim, of Charlotte, N.C., JoAnn Turner and her husband, Woody, of Ridgeway, Va., Shay Ramsey and her husband, Doug, of Yanceyville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Emily S. Hunter and her husband, Sheldon, and James Brian Saunders, all of Charlotte, N.C., Beth S. Grier and her husband, Mike, of Huntersville, N.C., Amy Turner and Kari Turner, both of Ridgeway, Va., and Travis Ramsey of Yanceyville, N.C.
A graveside service with Masonic rites will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6258 Park Springs Road, Pelham, N.C.
The family will be at the home. A gathering will be held at the home following the graveside service on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 4788 Martinsville, VA 24112.

All the Strader Family, Especially Shey and her family.



We extend our most heartfelt sympathies to you on the loss of James. I will always have fond memories of him, he was an important part of our lives. Did not get to see much of he and Della when they moved to Martinsville but did visit them there.God bless each of you as you go through these next few difficult days. Your loss has been great this year.
