Michael Keen Obituary
June 20, 1953 - February 26, 2025
Michael "Mike" Aubrey Keen, 71, of 554 Arlington Rd., Danville, VA passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 20, 1953, he was the son of the late Alene Jacobs Keen Moore and the late Russell Aubrey Keen.
Mike worked for many years with Sign Shop America, before starting his own painting business and advertising company. He was an incredibly kind soul, who believed in second chances, and helped so many people through the years. He was a loving partner, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many, who will be deeply missed. Mike was of the Christian faith, and his family takes comfort in knowing that he is at peace in the arms of Jesus.
Mike is survived by his life partner of over 30 years, Mary Propps of Danville, VA; a daughter, Amber Keen Ellis (Scott Slaughter) of Blairs, VA; a stepson, Timmy Wayne Eanes of Danville, VA; a brother, Robert Carroll Keen (Cheryl) of Danville, VA; a sister, Carolyn Marie Keen of Virginia Beach, VA; and four grandchildren, Charlotte "Charlie" Nadine Ellis, Cayden Aubrey Slaughter, Jonah Lane Slaughter, and Jerome "Jay" Clark Slaughter.
In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by two brothers, Russell Wayne Keen, and Ralph Everrett Keen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Inc. & Crematory, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville VA, with Pastor Mikel Pugh officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held prior to the service at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA from 1 to 2 p.m.
