Mollie Shepherd Obituary


RINGGOLD, Va. - Mollie Wray Shepherd, 86, of 545 Owl Road, died March 18, 2004 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for the past two weeks and in the hospital for the past two weeks.

Born April 10, 1917, in Caswell County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wray and the late Rosa Murphy Wray.

She had lived all of her life in Caswell and Pittsylvania Counties. She had retired from Dan River, Inc., where she worked in the former Riverside Division as a Spinner with a number of years of service. She was a member of the Tabernacle.

She was married to the late William McKinley Shepherd on November 23, 1934. He predeceased her on June 17, 1976.

She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Shepherd Adkins and Bonnie Shepherd Rowland, both of Ringgold and Joann Shepherd of Danville; two sons, Jerry L. Shepherd and Earl W. Shepherd, both of Danville; one brother, Edward Wray of Pelham, N.C.; one sister, Frances W. Saunders of Caswell County; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Barbara S. Hall; one son, Billy Shepherd; five brothers and two sisters.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tabernacle with the Rev. Lamarr Mooneyham and the Rev. Hershel Stone officiating. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Patsy and Jimmy Adkins, 1100 Milton Hwy., Ringgold.

Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main is in charge of arrangements.
