Dear Rippe Family, Mike and I were very saddened to learn of Mr. Rippe's passing. My grandmother, Esther Hoke, was a long time employee of Rippe's. I went to high school with Allen, and my husband, Mike, was a classmate of Ben's. We send our deepest condolences. Mr. Rippe was a gentleman and a great man.

Dear Ben, Esther, Allen and Family,
I was distressed to learn today of Buddy's passing. My wife, Bonnie, and I had hoped to see you when we visited the temple on April 30. In addition to being a fellow Main Street merchant of unquestionable integrity, Buddy was of that rare breed of sons of our Commonwealth, who had no need to ever appear to be anything other than himself. Your loss is also Danville's loss and Beth Shalom' loss. To honor his memory, Bonnie and I are sending a contribution to the Shriners' Crippled Childrens Hospital in Greenville, N.C. Fondly,
Jay and Bonnie Berman

Ben, we are saddened by the news of your father's passing yesterday. As I read that he was a Danville native, W & L graduate, WW II veteran and a successful businessman for many years, I’m reminded of the high standards set by your father and his generation. May we draw inspiration from his example and may you take comfort from your memories of your father. You will be in our prayers. Dave Slayton
