Willie Fitzgerald Obituary


CHATHAM, Va. - Willie Green Fitzgerald, 81, of 1389 Mill Creek Road, died Wednesday, June 15, 2003 in Stratford Health Care Center.

Born March 16, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Bud and Mary Clark Fitzgerald.

He was a member of Bell Grove Primitive Baptist Church and was a World War II Army veteran. He was retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company.

He was married to Rebecca E. Fitzgerald.

In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Frances Wingo of Washington, D.C. and Rosetta Musgrove of Oxon Hill, Md.; two sons, Willie Thomas Fitzgerald of Chatham and the Rev. Roy Lee Fitzgerald of High Point, N.C.; one sister, Nannie Berger of Chatham; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Elder B.M. Craighead officiating. Interment with military rites by VFW Post #4165 and D.A.V. Chapter 46 will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Burial Park.

Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Thomas Fitzgerald, 473 Mill Creek Road, Chatham.

Howerton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
