Oakdale, IL - Mr. David C. Combs of Oakdale, IL, departed this life at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, July 13, 2024. He had attained the age of 76 years, 11 months and 19 days.
David was born on July 24, 1947, in Perry County, KY, the son of Carlo and Thelma (Porter) Combs. He was united in marriage to Catherine Luczaj on August 22, 1975, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL and she survives his passing.
David worked as a Electrician for Boeing in St. Louis, MO for 25 years. He was a true handyman and enjoyed fixing things and helping his neighbors when he could. David was active in his community and would do whatever he could to help. He loved to read and spend time with his family.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Cathy Combs of Oakdale, IL; son, David Henson of Woodlawn, IL; daughter, Sharisa Cross and husband Chris of Brunswick, OH; 2 grandchildren, Keaghan Burden and Tierney Henson; 3 siblings, Ronald "Boo" Combs, Thelma Sue (Eddie) Emery and Donald (Ruthie) Combs of Combs, KY; sister-in-law, Elma Porter of Underwood, IN; friend, Greg Thomas of St. Louis, MO; aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Ray Porter and sister-in-law, Janice Combs.
Per the wishes of David and his family, cremation will be performed, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Oakdale Village Hall in Oakdale, IL on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 10 A.M.
Friends may call at the Oakdale Village Hall in Oakdale, IL on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 8 A.M. until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Epilepsy Foundation and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
