Doris Gause Obituary

Doris Gause
Doris Gause, 85, of Edwardsville, IL, was born July 15, 1940, in Highland, IL, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Troy, IL.
Doris lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to her family. She was a member of Eden Church in Edwardsville. She graduated from McCray Dewey High School in 1958 and after attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. After working at Mercantile Bank in St. Louis, Doris joined the family business, Sunnyside Nurseries in Troy, in 1970. For the next 48 years, she became the heartbeat of the nursery-keeping things running smoothly, working tirelessly in every season, and quietly making sure everyone around her was cared for. She wasn't just a hard worker; she was the steady, dependable foundation her family and the business could always count on.
Family was at the center of everything Doris did. She adored her husband of 48 years, Carl, whom she married on February 25, 1961. Together they built a home full of love, laughter, and support. She treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, finding joy in every milestone, visit, and family gathering.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Joseph and Zdenka Foucek; and her sisters, Joanne Foucek and Joyce Gosney.
Surviving are her beloved son, Jeff (Debby) Gause; grandson, Jace (Moli) Gause; granddaughter, Kassi (Jon) Heimann; Elias (Mike) Fox, and great-grandchildren, Carlyle and Jameson Gause, Easton and Everly Heimann, Ryleigh Crouse, and Parker Fox; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will miss her deeply.
Memorials may be made to Tri-Township Park in Troy, IL, or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Online condolences may be shared at www.Richesonfh.com.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, IL, with a memorial service immediately following at 12:00 p.m.
In keeping with her wishes, Doris was cremated. Her family will gather for a private ceremony to lay her ashes to rest, celebrating her life, her love, and the many memories she leaves behind.
