Manuel Sosa Obituary

Manuel T. Sosa Manuel Trinidad Sosa went to meet his Lord on September 8, 2014. He was born in October, 1934, in Santa Maria, Calif.. He is survived by his beloved wife Victoria C. Sosa and daughter Trudy G. Zam. Other family survivors are his brother John P. Sosa from Honolulu, Hawaii; two sisters Gerry and Rachel Sosa from Paso Robles, as well as various nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom live on the Central Coast. Manuel attended and graduated from Paso Robles High School and immediately after graduation joined the U.S. Army National Guard where he served for two years before joining the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at military bases in Japan, San Bernardino, Travis, Oxnard and Vandenberg Air Force Base. He also served two tours in Vietnam. Master Sergeant Manuel T. Sosa retired after 25 years of service to his country. He was a very strong supporter of the U.S. military services and strongly believed in his country. He loved his God, Family and Country. After his military retirement he worked for the California Youth Authority in Paso Robles for 20+ years. As an extension of his duties he voluntarily mentored many of the young men assigned to the facility and also assisted young co-workers. He always took great pride in helping others gain a positive direction to their lives. He was very active in his church community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for all fund-raisers including but not limited to cooking for El Dia de la Virgen De Guadalupe. He donated to the Boy Scouts of America and the local VFW and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Apart from being a very strong family man, Manuel loved to garden accompanied by his beloved Victoria. Trees, plants and flowers flourished under his touch and his backyard is a testament to the zen of the soul. Services are under the arrangement of Chapel of the Roses, 3450 El Camino Real, Atascadero, 805-466-1161. All family and friends are invited to a Rosary that will be held on September 18, 2014, viewing is from 5:30-7pm with the Rosary at 7pm at the Chapel of the Roses. On September 19, 2014, The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am at Mission San Miguel, followed by internment at the Atascadero Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately thereafter at St. Williams Catholic Church, hosted by the St. Williams Women's Group. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to Saint Williams Parish. Sign his guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries

Oh, what sweet memories I have of my Cousin Manuelito and as a child visiting them at the "almond ranch" My Aunt Celia cooking those yummy meals and all of the cousins playing in those great open spaces! I will miss his calls. Whenever there was a fire in Santa Barbara he never failed to call to make sure we were safe. He was so thoughtful. I will miss him very much. Vicky, stay strong.

Manny played football with my Dad for the Paso Robles Bearcats. When my father passed away last December Manny came to be with family and pay his respects. I so greatly appreciate his high school football memories with my Dad and will cherish the day of my Dad's viewing when Manny shared those memories with me. I am saddened of his passing as I know what an incredibly kind and loving person he was. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to all who loved him dearly.

I had the honor of working with Manny at the Youth Authority for many years. He was a friend and co-worker but mostly he was a very wonderful person to be around. I enjoyed every day that I worked with Manny. He always had a kind word and that wonderful smile, I will miss that smile and kind words. But I will always remember how he spoke of his family with such love. You will be missed. I know he is in heaven painting the clouds those beautiful colors. When I see them I will think of you.
